DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
ROLE SUMMARY
We are seeking a relational leader to shepherd the children (ages 0–10) of our church. The ideal candidate is a "builder" who can recruit, train, and encourage a team of volunteers to create a safe, biblically grounded environment. This role requires a strong emphasis on Special Events that serve as open doors to our broader community.



Position Title: Children’s Ministry Director
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Status: Part-Time (20 Hours/Week*)
Schedule: Sundays, Tuesday morning staff meetings and Wednesday evenings required; remaining hours flexible.
*Note: Hours will temporarily increase during the VBS preparation and the VBS program week, as well as during the Christmas Pageant season and around Easter.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Special Events & Community Outreach (30%)

Execute Major Annual Events: Plan, staff, and execute the following three "anchor" events which are central to our church calendar:

Christmas Pageant: A production involving the children to be performed during the Advent season.

Easter in the Park: An outdoor family celebration put on by the community (egg hunt, games, outreach) connected to our Easter services.

Vacation Bible School (VBS): A one-week summer program designed to engage neighborhood children. (Note: This event requires additional preparation hours).

Community Bridge-Building: Develop 1–2 additional "low-barrier" events annually to attract unchurched families (e.g., Parents' Night Out, Fall "Trunk or Treat").
2. Volunteer Leadership (30%)

Recruit: Actively invite church members to serve, ensuring safe adult-to-child ratios for both Sunday and Wednesday programs.

Equip: Provide curriculum, supplies, and encouragement to volunteers weekly.

Schedule: Manage the monthly volunteer rotation and handle last-minute substitutions.
3. Weekly Programming: Sundays & Wednesdays (25%)

Sunday Mornings: Oversee the Check-In/Check-Out process, prepare classrooms/lessons prior to service start time, and serve as the primary host for visiting families.

Wednesday Nights: Lead or oversee the midweek children's program (e.g., discipleship, games, crafts), ensuring it is distinct from Sunday mornings and engaging for children after a long school day.
4. Safety & Administration (15%)

Child Protection: Maintain strict adherence to the Child Protection Policy, ensuring every volunteer has a cleared background check on file.

Attendance Tracking: Track attendance for both Sunday and Wednesday groups to identify growth trends.

Follow up: Contact absent families and follow up with first-time guests within 48 hours.
QUALIFICATIONS

A vibrant Christian faith and agreement with our Statement of Faith.

Experience in event planning or project management.

Experience working with children (Teaching, Ministry, or Childcare).

Strong organizational skills (Email, Scheduling, Communication).

Ability to pass a Federal and State background check.
