ShoreLife Church began in 1988 when God put the desire on the heart of David Reynolds and the leadership of his home church, Bethany Church of Long Beach, to plant a new church in the Huntington Beach community. The vision was to start a church with the sole purpose of reaching the families of Huntington Beach and to help them to “Find and Follow Jesus Christ”.

 

From that moment, David prayerfully put together a team of committed people to come with him to Huntington Beach and begin this new ministry. In 1991, ShoreLife Church opened its doors with its first worship service in the multi-purpose room of a local elementary school. From the beginning, God blessed ShoreLife Church with countless people being reached for Christ.  He also used ShoreLife to plant two other churches including God’s House also in Huntington Beach where Eric Oleson was the lead pastor.

In 1998, Pastor David  left ShoreLife to follow God’s calling to a new ministry in Vancouver, WA and a year later, Dr. Brent Strawsburg joined ShoreLife Church  as the new Lead Pastor. God used Pastor Brent and his vast knowledge of scripture to teach God’s Word in a way that deeply impacted the lives of everyone here.  Under Pastor Brent’s leadership, God continued to bless ShoreLife Church as more and more people learned what it meant to be followers of Christ.

 

In September of 2007,  Andrew Garland joined the leadership of ShoreLife Church as the Associate Pastor.  His background and education, which includes Theater Arts and Christian Education along with his undying passion for people, proved him to be the right guy for the job and in 2012, Andrew received his Pastoral Ordination.  That same year in November, Dr. Brent Strawsburg retired as lead pastor of ShoreLife and in May of 2014, Pastor Andrew was approved to fill the lead position.

 

ShoreLife is always in movement.  Since the first day our doors opened to the present, the people of ShoreLife are living, breathing and enjoying what God is doing here and are excited for what the future holds.  As we grow in the knowledge of God through the teaching of His Word, we grow stronger in Him to help each other, lift each other up and link arm in arm together to stand firm in our faith, our hope and our Savior, Jesus Christ.  Together as the body of Christ, our prayer is to not only impact the lives of those within the walls of Shorelife but to extend beyond the uttermost boarders.  To reach the homeless and helpless.  To be a light in those darkened areas of life.  To be a beacon for the lost and lonely.  To be a safe haven for the troubled.  To be all that God has called us to be...to HELP PEOPLE FIND AND FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST.
