Christmas is “the most wonderful time of the year.” That is what we are told and so that is what we are aiming for. There is a lot of pressure on Christmas to measure up to our expectations, and the expectations of those around us. Every year it is the same. What is also the same every year is the Christmas Story. It does not change. It does not need to be modified or upgraded. It will not wear out. We have not outgrown our need for it. As we focus on the Christmas story these next few weeks, I encourage us all to grab hold of the mercies God brings through the birth of His Son. The world expects this from our Christmas celebrations, but it is only truly experienced through knowing Jesus Christ.
